Margaux Zani, Editor in Chief
Margaux is a U4 student pursuing an Honours degree in Political Science with minors in Philosophy and Psychology. This is her third year working for the journal; she was editor for the journal two years ago and has been chosen to be the journal’s Editor in Chief since last year. She is strongly passionate about the evolution of norms in International Human Rights Law and the development of new norms in International Humanitarian Law. Outside of academics, she enjoys running, weightlifting, and loves to discover new music.
Nuala O’Connell, Managing Editor – Online
Nuala is a U3 student, studying Anthropology and Political Science. Nuala is interested in the politics of sound, grief, and memory. Their favourite class at McGill has been POLI244: State Behaviour, and in their free time, they enjoy listening to jazz music, playing cards, and reading. They are excited to be this year’s Managing Editor for the International Politics and Comparative Politics sections of the online journal!
John Yaw Bollinger, Managing Editor – Online
John is a U3 student completing an Honours Political Science Degree with a minor in Philosophy. This is his second year working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, previously working as a staff writer for the Political Theory section. His interests lie mainly in democratic theory, political legitimacy, and issues regarding free speech and liberal participation.
Will Meslin, Director of Graphic Design
Will is a U4 student from Toronto, majoring in Political Science with a minor in World Cinemas. This is his first year working as a member of the directing team for the McGill Journal of Political Science. He is deeply passionate about the intersection of politics and art, as well as Canadian and American foreign policy. Outside of academics, he loves to climb, play guitar, and cook!
Coline Palat, Director of Media
Coline is a U3 student majoring in Political Science, with minors in International Development and Sociology. She is very excited to serve as Director of Media for the McGill Journal of Political Science, a position that aligns well with her deep interest in the influence of media on the democratic process. Outside of her academic and professional commitments, she is passionate about debate, dance, music and continuously learning new languages!
Aviya Krauss, Director of Events
Aviya is a U3 student with a double major in Political Science and History and a minor in Religious Studies. Her main academic interest is examining memory politics in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. This is her first year as a member of the directing team for the McGill Journal of Political Science. Her interests include film, crafting, and studying medical history.
Addison Hubert, Director of Finance
Addison is a U2 student majoring in Finance. This is her first year working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as the Director of Finance. Her interests lie mainly in Middle Eastern affairs and American politics. In her spare time, she enjoys doing pilates, trying new restaurants and travelling.
Liad Wolch, Director of Logistics
Liad is a U1 student double-majoring in Political Science and History. This is his first year working at the McGill Journal of Political Science. His interests lie in political theory and intellectual history. Outside of school Liad enjoys community organizing and playing/listening to music!
Political Theory Section
Martín Rojas, Editor
Martín is a second-year student double majoring in International Development Studies and Political Science, with a minor in Economics. This is his first semester at the McGill Journal of Political Science, where he’s part of the Political Theory section as an editor. He’s especially interested in U.S. and European foreign policy, Latin American politics, and how democracy works both politically and internationally. Outside of politics, he loves film, literature, and cooking.
Tristan F. Hernandez, Editor
Tristan is a U3 Honours Political Science student with a double minor in Anthropology and Classics. This is their first semester working with the Mcgill Journal of Political Science, as an editor for the Political Theory section. Their interests concentrate around the politics of nationalism and democratic theory. Their thesis and research is currently focused on the radical democratic praxis within the Zapatista autonomous communities in southern Mexico. Tristan is also a fan of Classics, Linguistics, ambient techno music, and tea.
Sean Martin, Writer
Sean is a U3 student in a Joint Honours program with components in Political Science and Anthropology, and a minor in World Cinemas. This is his second year working for the McGill Journal of Political Science in his capacity as a Staff Writer for the Political Theory section. Within this realm, Sean is interested in critical theory, decolonial theory, queer and feminist theory, as well as existentialist philosophy and film studies. He is particularly interested in analyzing film as a medium of political representation and a tool for education. Outside of academics, Sean loves to hike, swim, thrift, and of course, watch movies!
Julnar Aizouki, Writer
Julnar is a U2 Student pursuing a Joint Honors in Political Science and World Islamic and Middle East Studies. This is her first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as a Political Theory Staff Writer. She is mainly interested in writing about evil governance, justice, and warfare. Outside Academics, she is passionate about Arabic music, figure skating, and terrible comedy movies.
Anyue Zhang, Writer
Anyue is a U3 student majoring in Honours Political Science with a minor in Economics. This is her second year writing for the Political Theory section of the McGill Journal of Political Science and her first year editing for the print edition of the journal. Within political science, Anyue is interested in exploring theories of democracy, citizenship, and ontology, with a special focus in radical political theories. Outside of academics, she loves reading, exploring Montréal on foot, and maintaining her 2+ year streak on Duolingo.
Canadian Politics Section
Catvy Tran, Editor
Catvy is a U2 student majoring in Political Science. This is her second year working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, this time as a Canadian Politics Editor. Her interests lie mainly in Québec politics, as well as in Canadian immigration policies. Outside of academics, she is passionate about skiing and playing piano.
Catriona Hayes Morris, Editor
Catriona is a U3 student pursuing honours in political science, with minors in history and Russian. This is her second year editing for the Canadian Politics section of the journal, where her interests lie in constitutional and gender politics, as well as court behaviour. Outside of academics, she plays the fiddle, and also competes in equestrian sport.
Charles McKaig, Writer
Charles is a U1 student majoring in History and minoring in Political Science. This is his first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as a Canadian Politics Staff Writer. When he isn’t on campus or engaging in political events, you will find him reading a book or exploring the great outdoors.
Arianne Fouse, Writer
Arianne is a U2 student majoring in Political Science and History with a minor in GSFS Studies. This is her first year writing with the McGill Journal of Political Science. Her academic interests center on the interplay between Canadian politics and global affairs, with a particular focus on how states’ foreign policies interact and evolve through historical context. In her freetime, she enjoys yoga and spending time with her friends.
Willa Merer, Writer
Willa is a U1 student majoring in History and Political Science, and this is her first year working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as a staff writer for the Canadian Politics section. She is interested in the dynamics of federalism, policy decision making and party politics. Beyond academics, Willa loves reading and playing piano, and she has a black belt in karate.
Sophie Gandell, Writer
Sophie is a U1 student majoring in Political Science, with a minor in Philosophy. This is her first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science. Her primary areas of interest are party leadership and the current state of the Canadian political climate. When she’s not writing, you can find Sophie hanging out with her dog Marley, going to dance class, and enjoying the beautiful Vancouver beaches back home.
International Relations Section
Matteo de Campos Mello Grijns, Editor
Matteo is a U4 student from New York majoring in International Development Studies and minoring in Political Science and Sociology. He wrote six articles for the Comparative Politics section of the journal during the 2024-2025 academic year and is now an editor for the International Relations section. His primary areas of interest include democratic governance, environmental politics, ethnic conflict, and international law. Outside of the classroom, Matteo is very passionate about soccer, travel, and cooking.
Jude Archer, Editor
Jude is a U3 student majoring in Political Science, with a minor in Philosophy. Last year, Jude was a staff writer for the McGill Journal of Political Science, before becoming an editor for the International Relations section this year. His main interests are U.S.-China relations, American domestic politics, and international trade. Outside of academics, Jude enjoys going for a run, cooking, or watching a movie.
Soane Ricard, Editor
Soane is a U3 honours student in Political Science, with a double minor in History and Russian Culture. This is her second year working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, but her first year working as an editor. Her interests lie mainly in contemporary European politics, the Cold War period, and international security. Outside of academics, she is passionate about painting and film, as well as travelling.
Léa Karam, Writer
Léa is a U2 student double majoring in Political Science and Economics. This is her first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as an International Relations Staff Writer. Her interests include Middle Eastern geopolitics and the influence of Western narratives and political agendas on the global order. Outside of academics, she is passionate about cinema, literature and travel.

Larry is a U2 student double-majoring in Political Science and Economics. This is his first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, as an International Relations Staff Writer. His interests lie mainly in Asian-Pacific affairs, American foreign policy, and the international economy. Outside of academics, he enjoys music, reading, and cooking, as well as playing sports and solving a good riddle.
Spencer Clark, Writer
Spencer is a U3 student majoring in Political Science, with an Urban Studies minor. This is his third semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as a staff writer for the International Relations section. Some of his topics of interest are autocracies, political legitimation, and information studies. Outside of academics, he is passionate about nature and literature.

Caleb is a U4 student pursuing an Honors Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Spanish. This is his first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science as an International Relations Staff Writer. His interests center on trade, armed conflict, and legal philosophy from an international perspective. Off campus, Caleb enjoys running, weightlifting, and spending time with friends and family.
Comparative Politics Section
Patrick Armstrong, Editor
Patrick is a U3 Political Science major with a minor in economics and history. Last year, he wrote for the international relations section of the journal. His interests are primarily IPE and trade. Outside of the classroom, he likes to ski, travel, and get beaten by Quebec natives in pick-up hockey.
Laila Graham, Editor
Laila is a U2 student, pursuing a double major in Political Science and World Islamic and Middle East Studies. This is her first semester working with the McGill Journal of Political Science. She is interested in Middle Eastern geopolitics, specifically related to political Islam and foreign intervention. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading, curating playlists, and cooking.
Atticus Fewson, Writer
Atticus is a U2 Student from Markham, Ontario double majoring in Political Science and History with a minor in Philosophy. This is his first semester with the McGill Journal of Political Science as a writer for the Comparative Politics section. He is particularly interested in history and politics in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Beyond academics, Atticus is a hockey fan, cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mathilde Belin, Writer
Mathilde is a U2 student majoring in both Political Science and International Development. This is her first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, as a staff writer in the Comparative Politics section. She has a particular interest in the politics of the Global South. Outside of academics, Mathilde is a part-time cook in a restaurant, and she enjoys playing the guitar and the piano.
Victoria Varsamis, Writer
Victoria is a U3 student majoring in Political Science with a minor in Communications. This is her first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, as a writer for the Comparative Politics section. She is very interested in American politics, the inner workings of various regime-styles, and analyzing historical patterns to apply modern dynamics. Coming from South Florida, she enjoys spending time in the sun and going to the beach! She is also a certified yoga instructor who, despite not actively teaching, continues to enjoy the physical and spiritual aspects of the practice.
Manon Brechard, Writer
Manon is a U3 faculty of arts student double majoring in Political Science and Economics. This is her first semester working for the McGill Journal of Political Science, as a Comparative Politics Staff Writer. Her interest lies mainly in African politics and the legacies of colonialism, social movements in civil society, and democratization and regime change. Outside of academics, she is passionate about cooking and exploring different culinary traditions, as well as cinema and theater.
